Threewells Dungeon

Cinnamon Bun

Threewells Dungeon is the young dungeon beneath or near Threewells, known to Broccoli Bunch first as an “evil hole” and later identified by Leonard Chand’nuit as a likely dungeon entrance. Its decisive importance lies in the conflict between what the quest system demands and what the wider world considers lawful: the dungeon’s Evil Root cannot be destroyed by Broccoli Bunch at his current strength, while breaking the Dungeon Core is described as a crime of the highest order.

Identity and Discovery

Threewells Dungeon is not initially presented to Broccoli Bunch as a named, mapped institution. It appears in the language of an urgent quest, when the system announces, “Bong! A great evil has set its root in the world. You are called upon to save it! Do you accept this quest?” The floating translucent menu frames the problem as a moral emergency and offers only acceptance or refusal, making the dungeon’s danger part of the system’s larger call to action.

Broccoli Bunch later reaches the dungeon’s core and receives a direct identification: the visible orb is “The Dungeon Core for the Wonderland Dungeon,” alongside “An Evil Root.” Although the surrounding evidence associates the investigation with Threewells, this naming also reveals that the site belongs to the broader Wonderland Dungeon structure rather than being merely a local ruin. The apparent simplicity of the discovery is therefore deceptive: the dungeon is both a physical location and an active magical system with a core and an invasive root.

The Root, the Core, and the Quest

At the dungeon’s center, Broccoli Bunch tries to understand the relationship between the orb and the disturbing roots. An attempt to affect the root fails, and even a strike with the edge of his spade leaves no mark. The quest interface then clarifies the tactical situation: Broccoli Bunch has found the Evil Root but is too weak to destroy it. The proposed solution is to break the Dungeon Core and let the root starve.

This instruction places the core at the center of the dungeon’s threatened ecology. The Evil Root is not merely an enemy that can be defeated by ordinary force; it is sustained through the dungeon’s deeper structure. The system’s answer is consequently drastic, requiring the destruction of the mechanism that supports the root rather than a direct victory over the root itself.

Broccoli Bunch follows that dangerous path. After the action succeeds, the system declares the quest complete and announces, “The world thanks you for your sacrifice!” The wording is unsettling because the completion message presents destruction as both successful service and sacrifice. Broccoli Bunch’s exhausted collapse and hysterical laughter underscore the mismatch between the triumphant interface and the physical and emotional strain of what has occurred.

Reclassification as a Crime

The consequences of the dungeon’s destruction become clearer only later, when Broccoli Bunch describes the site to a traveling group. Leonard Chand’nuit hears about the “evil hole” and suggests that it sounds like the entrance to a young dungeon. Arianne reports that the group felt a mana surge, and Leonard concludes that someone may have destroyed the dungeon after Broccoli Bunch left, adding that such an act would not have been easy.

The exchange changes the meaning of Broccoli Bunch’s earlier success. What the quest system treated as completion is recognized by the group as evidence of a formidable and potentially criminal act. Arianne explains that destroying a dungeon is “A crime of ze highest order” and that someone who breaks a core must in turn be broken because the act goes against the world’s will. The dungeon is therefore protected not simply by physical defenses but by a religious and legal order that treats its core as inviolable.

Broccoli Bunch’s limited understanding becomes part of the scene’s tension. He asks about the world’s will, while Leonard responds with contempt for his education and treats his ability to read and write as surprising. When Leonard asks what Broccoli Bunch can tell the group about the dungeon, Broccoli Bunch denies knowing anything. His silence conceals his direct involvement and preserves the gap between the system’s private instructions and the public rules governing dungeon destruction.

Creatures, Cleansing, and Magical Order

The Threewells Dungeon storyline is connected to a wider vocabulary of contamination and cleansing. Broccoli Bunch’s Cleaning skill is unlocked after he performs a Special Action aligned with his Cinnamon Bun class, and Cleaning magic later destroys a ghost when it enters the creature. The same cleansing logic appears in his encounter with the dungeon’s Evil Root, where a quest defines the root as the source of the threat and directs him toward eliminating its support.

This pattern distinguishes the dungeon from ordinary scenery. It is a place where hostile entities, magical forces, and moral classifications are translated into actionable tasks. Ghosts can be made to give up the ghost, the Evil Root can be isolated from the core, and a quest can label a destructive act as a sacrifice on behalf of the world. The dungeon consequently exposes the double nature of Broccoli Bunch’s abilities: Cleaning is initially a humble practical skill, but within the adventure it becomes a means of magical violence and environmental reordering.

Narrative Significance

Threewells Dungeon marks an early point at which Broccoli Bunch’s game-like interface proves insufficient as a guide to the world’s deeper ethics. The system rewards the destruction of the core with quest completion, yet experienced adventurers describe the same act as an offense against the world’s will. That contrast establishes a recurring uncertainty: success according to the menu does not necessarily mean innocence according to society, law, or cosmic order.

The dungeon also links personal growth to irreversible consequence. Broccoli Bunch gains progress through dangerous encounters, unlocks Cleaning, survives attacks by Sentinel Ghosts, and eventually completes the root-related quest, but the reward is inseparable from the destruction of a place whose existence carries legal and religious protection. Threewells Dungeon thus functions as more than a setting for an early victory. It is the site where a seemingly helpful quest system first draws Broccoli Bunch across a boundary he does not yet understand, leaving him with a completed objective, concealed knowledge, and an act that the wider world may regard as unforgivable.
